With over fifteen years of legal experience, Prof. dr. Ezéchiel Amani Cirimwami brings together a rare combination of judicial service, prosecution, international litigation, diplomatic and academic engagement in international law.

A former High Court Judge and current Public Prosecutor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he has also acted as counsel before leading international courts and tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

As an active academic, he has developed a recognized scholarly profile in international humanitarian law, international human rights law, international criminal law and international procedural law. Through his teaching, research and publications, he has deepened the analysis of international crimes, the protection of victims and the guarantees of fair trial before international and hybrid courts.

He has also actively contributed to the making of international law as plenipotentiary delegate and member of the Drafting Committee at the Ljubljana Diplomatic Conference. This led to the adoption of the International Cooperation in the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, War Crimes and Other International Crimes (MLA Convention).
